What is ProGrad?
Project Graduation (or ProGrad) is a program offered by many high schools in the United States, in which parent-supervised activities are offered as part of a post-graduation party. Project Graduation is a “Lock-in” celebration and emphasizes a safe and secure environment for graduating Seniors which includes games, activities, food, entertainment, music, and prize giveaways. Typically, it begins at 11 pm on TBD, and ends at 6 am the next morning.
High school graduation is an achievement worth celebrating. At Dulles High School, we want to honor our graduating seniors with a fun-filled night before they start a new chapter in their life. We want their last memories of high school to be special. What better way to celebrate than with their friends!
Parent Involvement and Volunteerism
An event of this magnitude requires many parent volunteers! The success of Project Graduation is driven by parent and student participation. The more participation we have, the more we can accomplish together!
ProGrad is not a school-sponsored event so in order to create a successful evening, we need to raise money. Initial funds are from previous year’s ProGrad budget, and the reciprocating fund account balance of $2,000 will be left for proceeding class of 2023. Project Graduation is a registered 501(c)3 charitable organization; thus, all donations of cash or merchandise may be tax deductible.
The entire year consists of various fundraisers to reach a goal around $40,000. We currently have $4,500 so we have quite a ways to go to meet our goal. In order to cover our expected budget, Project Graduation has a variety of opportunities for parents and students to assist. While we are soliciting donations from area merchants and corporations, it is essential for generous parents to dedicate their time and/or financial support to make this event possible.
This can be done in many ways and not always in person: attending ProGrad meetings; volunteering to chaperone and/or selling tickets to our events; promoting our events through social media; securing sponsorships, donations, and many more. If you have any questions or are interested in volunteering, please contact us at dullesprograd@gmail.com.
